Worked all night on importing our UBB and modifing the templates. Everything was working fine, then I noticed one forum didn't have a moderator so I entered myself. After submitting all of the other forums lost me as moderator? So I decided to clear all moderators from all foums and start over. I hit submit and bang I was droped to you're not logged in. Now I can't login period.
I tried to use the getadmin.php file to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm hitting the sack for a bit I hope when I get up someone has left me good news. :)
One night with vB and I'm totally hooked!!!

This sounds like a bug - I had exactly the same problem and was told that it'd be fixed in the latest release (you are using 1.1.2, right ?)
Anyway, the fix is pretty easy - download MySQL Manager from Gossammer Threads and navigate to the User table in your forum database. Then add a new record (use a userid which is 1 higher than your last registration) and ensuring that the usergroupid is 6 - this is the admin group.
That should get you back in. When you're in, use your new username to set things back to how they should be and then delete it. I now have two admin logins in the systm - just in case!

No go Craig,
I tried entering a new user like you said and it shows up fine using mysqlman. However, when I go to control panel all I get is this:
You are either not a valid administrator or have not logged in. Please log in now:
Is this a cookie issue?
What are the chances that I could re-run the install file and have it drop all members then import them again from UBB?

could you tell us what version you are using? also, what are your system specs? OS, webserver, PHP and mySQL version?

I just downloaded and installed v1.1.2 last night. First time install.
Server: Linux 2.2.16-FQ_Phoenix-51
MySQL: 3.22.26a
PHP: 3.0.16
Apache/1.3.12 (Unix) mod_macro/1.1.1 PHP/3.0.16
There is something nasty going on with cookies. Once I get a you are not logged error message I can't view any page on the BBS until I go and delete every cookie that looks related. Then I'm able to view our forums. However, I can't login because once I try I get the your not logged in error page and it just loops until I delete cookies again. I hate to go in and wipe out all my cookies because actually I like em.
I remember reading something about viewing the vB demo and having it screw up cookies. I have viewed it :(
Looking at the user table in the DB with mysqlman it all appears fine.

GO back into the Admin demo and log out.

Being that I have deleted so many cookies it appears that I deleted the one for the demo too. It was showing not cookied.
Thanks for the tip rangersfan

Well I decided to start from scratch. arrgghh! I think I have an idea what may have caused part if not all of the problem. When I initially setup I used the same login name that I used for UBB, then when I imported UBB I though oh-**it. However, everything worked fine until I ran into the moderator problem this morning. I have a feeling that the double member name may have caused this whole she-bang-boom.
I'll let you all know how it goes this round. :)
Thanks for the help

Another all nighter getting things to look the way I want. So far so good on this install. I did run into one snag with (IP: Logged) sending me error emails.
Database error in vBulletin: Invalid SQL: SELECT forumid FROM forum WHERE threadid=1288
mysql error: Unknown column 'threadid' in 'where clause'
mysql error number: 1054
Date: Sunday 11th of June 2000 06:49:04 AM
Script: /vbbs/postings.php?action=getip&postid=5524
Referer: http://www.mis-forums.com/vbbs/showthread.php?threadid=1288
I suppose I should start a new thread on this one, unless it's a known problem. I pulled the (IP: Logged) link out for the time being.
I sure hope this error won't require another install/import. :)

That IP Logged thing is a known problem - I believe John posted a fix for it somewhere :)
