I have always stood by Server Matrix, but this is out of line. They totally messed up my hard drive by doing totally abnormal partitions on it. Now they want me to pay for them to put it right!
Take a look at this ticket:
Hi, we have just bought a server with you.
Here is how it was partitioned.
"Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda2 2.0G 235M 1.7G 13% /
/dev/hda1 99M 26M 69M 27% /boot
/dev/hda8 47G 256M 45G 1% /home
none 755M 0 755M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hda7 2.0G 33M 1.9G 2% /tmp
/dev/hda5 9.7G 1.9G 7.4G 21% /usr
/dev/hda6 9.7G 103M 9.1G 2% /var
/dev/hdb1 74G 33M 70G 1% /backup"
This will cause problems as our home directory needs to be bigger than 45gb.
Is there any chance that you could look into it?
Thanks.

Where would you prefer the additional space come from. From what I can tell there is not alot of room to play with on the first drive. We could re partition the backup drive to have 2 partitions one /backup and one /home2 for the additional needed space. Any repartitioning of the main drive would require a full os reload tho.

Would i have to pay for an OS reload? I have only had this server for 24 hours and i did not request for the hard drive to be partitioned this way.

(dmurphy-04/13/04-23:21):
What is the exact partitioning scheme you would like us to use.

(c13531host-04/13/04-23:50):
My other server is fine. Here is how it was done:
/dev/sda3 72G 13G 55G 19% /
/dev/sda1 99M 48M 46M 52% /boot
/dev/hdc1 37G 17G 19G 48% /backup
none 505M 0 505M 0% /dev/shm
/usr/tmpDSK 243M 5.0M 225M 3% /tmp
/tmp 243M 5.0M 225M 3% /var/tmp
Except /backup does not need to be re-partitioned on this new machine.

In order to do this, you will need an OS reload. Unfortunately, since you didn't make any special partitioning requests, an OS reload fee will be applied.

But this one was messed up. It should not be like this, my other Xeon was not partitioned in the same way, so I didn't expect this one to be either, hence why I didn't make any "special instructions".
This is not fair, why should I have to pay for SM's mistake?
I am not paying for this as it isn't my fault. As he said, there is a lot of wasted space, so i take it that all SM servers now come with wasted space?
This isn't fair.

I am strongly considering whether i should move back to EV1Servers, they actually fixed their mistakes for me, at their expense and not mine. This is totally out of line, how would you feel if you had just bought a server that had been abnormally partitioned? And then being asked to pay for them to fix the problem that they created.
I have 2 80gb hard drives, one was supposed to be for backups and the other was for everything else, but wouldn't anyone expect more than 45gb for the home directory?!
