Hi, unless I miss a setting, the welcome email after user has activated his account seems not to be sent.

I made several test with registering several users, got the activation email, went to the browser to the activation url. Then my account was properly activated, BUT, I didn't received the welcome Email (email_validated).

So, did someone check this and can confirm its working or not for them ? Please someone confirm thanks.

I just registered to several vb2 beta2 that have email activation enabled, and none of them are sending the welcome message, so it seems its not just my installation.

Ok. I have looked in the templates and settings and the only "Welcome" email that I can see that is supposed to be sent is the Activation ID...

What email are you talking about specifically and where is it mentioned as being a part of vB2.

When you sent my your PM about this I was confused and thought you meant the Activation ID email. As far as I know this is the only "welcome" email that vBulletin has ever sent out.

Hmmm.. Didn't even know that was in there. We don't use it or anything. We send out emails a few hours after they sign up by hand (1 person) takes care of this. With less than 20 sign-ups a day it works better for us this way.

Yes, but once you click on the link to validate the Email, isn't it supposed to send you an activation email confirmation ? If not what is the template pointed above for ?

I changed my reply above...

Yes, Thats a good idea wayne. However, I like the automated process so user can get it immediately, in particular if they sign up at 3 am.

So, does any one know what is the email validated template supposed for ?

I'm guessing a bit, but from the scripts, it looks like it is used with moderated and COPPA registrations.

oooooooo ok ok.
This explains all thanks Hal.

I thought that after user had auto-activated their account they would receive it.
But i'm sure you are right: its when you moderate registration.

It seemed to work for me only when I wasn't requiring activations. I just modified my activateemail to be a activation letter and a welcome letter.

I also have my buddy mentor groups sending each person a welcome PM and introduction as well.

I think i'll be doing like you me2b: both welcome and activation letter combined.
However, i'll make sure it will not be to big: new users can get scared if the email contains to much.

My activation/welcome letter is short and sweet, but a link for new members to check out my welcome.php page which is a page that welcomes them, gives them some insight into the boards, where to go for help, etc.

If you want to check it out, go to my board and click on the icon that says "new here".

Hey, nice idea !
In fact I already have a page that presents the site, I will just link it in the email, with the faq.

Thanks :)
