I want to start a forum, but I really do not know anything about programming or databases. I am trying to install phpbb and I am getting database errors. I really don't know what I am doing, I guess. I don't know what version of MySLQ I have, I know my site has to have PHP and I know I am using version 4.0. I don't know how to "log in" to my database, what software I would need to do this, if i need to do it, if I need to to it what I would have to do, etc. My database has an IP address, not a domain name, and I don't know if this is necessary.

I know how to make a webpage in something like Dreamweaver, I can make flash anamation, and I know how to FTP files to my site. I was able to FTP the phpbb files to my site. That is the exetent of my admin ability.

Anyway, if I go with vBulletin, will all of these "silly" questions I have be answered by the support here? I really think I need some hand holding. Should I even bother since I barley know anything?

Installing vB is consitant of either,

Uploading the files, editing one file, and clicking some buttons.

Or

Paying Jelsoft to do the install for you.

Once its up and running the extent of you having to know much sharply goes down, modify the look of vB requires some limited HTML abilitys, most of the style can be changed with a few clicks in the AdminCP :)
