Style change problems?! (im sure this is a simple mistake)

It seems whenever I create a style (partent, child, other) no matter what changes I make to it they never show?

I have made all users able to select styles.
I have myself set to that style.
I have clicked the style title to view (?styleid=X)

Nothing, it just stays at my default. Whats could I be doing wrong?
